12:00 - 8:00 pm - The Lake George Village streets will host an old-fashioned Community Block Party this Saturday and Sunday from 12PM – 8PM. All of Lake George’s volunteer organizations, the Town and Village municipalities, and its four churches have organized a variety of family activities, rides, games and live entertainment on Montcalm and Ottawa Street. The Village’s main stage will feature Mr. Twisty’s Magic Show, the Lake George Community Band, Song Dogs Bluegrass Band, and entertainment by the Lake George Central School Music Department. Saturday’s entertainment features students from Lake George Central school, “Lounge Act” and Dar Nizzle as well as a retake of the Stony Creek Bands 50th anniversary celebration at 6PM. Sunday, the Bolton Dance Academy is followed on stage by popular vocalist Rich Ortiz from 3PM – 6PM. St. James Church hosts Michael Linke at 2PM for an organ concert. Both streets will be filled with children’s games, bounce houses, displays, bake sales, and a food court. Lake George Arts Project will host an art sale, first responders will have a  “Touch a Truck” available for photos. The Lake George Music festival will feature a “Musical Instrument Petting Zoo” for children to try instruments. Lake Georges Methodist Church will have a free movie and popcorn, a carnival, and their famous chicken bar-b-que Saturday from 5PM – 7PM. Lake George Steamboat Company’s Callioppe will kick off both days with a special concert. Huge slides and bounce houses including a giant maze will be available free of charge. A variety of food will be available as well as bake sales. The event is scheduled rain or shine with a picnic area under a tent and live music on a covered stage. All of Lake George’s non-for-profit organizations will have displays, information, and free activities available for all families. Some will require volunteer donations. The Block Party is sponsored by the Town and Village of Lake George, Lake George Radio 93.5, Davie’s and  Davie’s Real Estate, Nina’s Sweet Shoppe, The Fort William Henry, Boats by George, The Holiday Inn Resort, and the Lake George RV Park. “We do several events for our visitors each year, but this party is celebrated for our residents and neighbors alike,” Former Mayor Bob Blais said. “Mostly all activities are free and give our local volunteers an opportunity to showcase all the good they do for our community” he said. Ottawa Street, Montcalm Street, and portions of Hendrick and Iroquois will be detoured from Friday to Sunday evening. Local traffic will be maintained throughout.
