1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
Did you ever wonder how wildflowers got their names? Or an easy way to identify them? Diane Collins, wildflower photographer and naturalist, author of Trailside Wildflowers in Cole’s Woods, will lead a one-day program on how the common and scientific names of a variety of wildflowers were derived followed by a leisurely wildflower walk on the Wiawaka grounds. We’ll identify a lovely diversity of summer wildflowers, and using Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide you’ll learn a practical system of identification you can use on your own. Both talk and walk will be about an hour each, and handouts will include lists and photos of the many summer wildflowers at Wiawaka.
Cost for workshop is $15 and includes a booklet on wildflowers.
