6:00 pm - Jude Dolton, Photographer - You see something, you pull out your camera and take the picture. That picture is almost exactly what you see in front of you right? That's what photography is at its core. It's a way to capture the world. Since almost everyone has a camera in their pocket, we are seeing the same photos over, and over. The more I have noticed this, the more I have turned away from just documenting what I'm seeing. Using long exposures, I have been taking a more impressionistic approach. I use the term impressionism because much like the paintings from that era, even with objects and subject matter you can identify the work is very very much still abstract.
