3:00 pm & 7:00 pm - The Christmas holidays are coming to the North Country – and so are The McKrells! The pioneering Celtic Bluegrass band is bringing its nationally acclaimed Christmas show to North Creek’s Tannery Pond in two performances on Dec. 15. The band’s signature bluegrass style features traditional and original songs, classic Christmas stories and lots of good country humor. Last year’s show at Tannery Pond sold out long before the performance, so early ticket reservations are recommended. Shows are at 3 pm and 7 pm, and tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 at the door if available. There is no entry fee for those 18 and under, but an advanced reservation is required. Led by singer/songwriter Kevin McKrell, the band features longtime collaborators Frank Orsini on fiddle, Scott Hopkins on banjo, Peter Pashoukas on guitar, Arlin Greene on bass, and Brian Melick on percussion. McKrell formed the Saratoga-based band in 1998 following a career heading two other pioneering Celtic music groups, Donnybrook Fair and The Fabulous Newports. His best-known songs, including “Donegal,” “I Miss the Rain,” and “All of the Hard Days Are Gone,” have been performed by numerous national bands and individuals. When he’s not singing, McKrell is also an award-winning painter and sculptor. The McKrells are regulars at the top Celtic, folk and bluegrass festivals around the country and have also toured the world, with highlight performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center in New York City. Tannery Pond Center, which is dedicated to bringing the best performances, art exhibits and community events to the Gore Mountain Region, is on the corner of Route 28N and Main Street, North Creek.
