Canoeing and Kayaking

If you’re bringing your own canoe or kayak to the region, there are many places you can launch. Please note that some of these do have a fee.

Registrations

To boat on Lake George you’ll need to register.

You may also register your boat at the Lake George Park Commission, located at 75 Fort George Road in Lake George. 

Please call ahead, but typically on the weekends, you can register your boat at:

Prices are as follows:

• Equipped Boat Registration – Less than 21ft: $40.00
• Equipped Boat Registration – 21ft-25ft: $50.00
• Equipped Boat Registration – Greater than 25ft: $50.00
• Unequipped Boat Registration – Less than 21ft: $40.00
• Unequipped Boat Registration – 21ft-25ft: $50.00
• Unequipped Boat Registration – Greater than 25ft: $50.00
• Temporary Boat Registration – Single Day: $12.00
• Temporary Boat Registration – Single Week: $20.00

Inspections

In an effort to stop the spread of invasive species into Lake George, all trailered vessels are required to be inspected prior to launching in Lake George.  This includes motorboats, personal watercraft, jet skies and sailboats. Canoes, kayaks, and other cartop watercraft are not subject to inspections. There is no fee for inspection or decontamination if necessary. Inspections are done on a first-come first-served basis and take between five and ten minutes to complete, depending on the size and condition of the boat.
