Kate Bartow, a Hadley native, worked as a wrangler on the ranch as a teenager before heading out west to train horses professionally. Abed Johnson brings a strong business and construction background. They are dedicated to honoring the foundation while igniting a new future for the ranch.
“We love the ranch! There’s a rich historical foundation here, but let’s be honest, there are some infrastructure issues. Our passion is to restore the infrastructure as much as we can, so that the community can continue to enjoy it for generations to come.” - Kate Bartow
Saturday, June 24th, 2023, will be the grand re-opening of 1000 Acres Ranch Resort. We will be open for breakfast from 8 a.m. - 10 a.m. and Day Passes will officially go on sale. Our All Access Day Pass gives guests and families access to the entire property including: indoor pool, kayaking and river activities, as well as a brand new gym. For those seeking adventure, we offer horseback riding for $65 for a 1-hour ride. More advanced options are available for experienced riders. To cap off the day, country-rock band Joe Adee & The Lug Nuts will be jamming out from 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.
The ranch bar, the Red Dog Saloon, is open 7 days a week and offers a delicious food menu, pool tables, a porch overlooking the Hudson, and live music every Saturday night through the summer.
“Every person who comes in for a beer or a horse ride, they don’t know it, but they are helping to rebuild this ranch - a little bit at a time. They’re pouring into the future.” - Abed Johnson
Please come celebrate the grand re-opening with us.

ABOUT 1000 Acres Ranch Resort
When the ranch opened over 40 years ago, it became a place of tradition, annual pilgrimage and a lifestyle of grit and adventure. For decades, our guests enjoyed a true dude ranch experience: cowboy campfires, cabin lodging, fishing, hiking and traversing rugged trails on horseback. Nestled on the scenic Hudson River, 1000 Acres Ranch Resort is an all-inclusive destination for a family seeking a genuine dude ranch experience. We honor the memories of an age gone by and hope to enhance the family-friendly tradition of the ranch for generations to come.
