Adirondack Pub & Brewery Raises Funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters

Oktoberfest in Lake George is about more than polka music, beer and German fare.

Every year Adirondack Pub & Brewery, which plans two Oktoberfest celebrations annually, raises funds for charity.

Join us in raising a glass to their fundraising efforts!

Check out the press release below for more information on how they raised more than $17,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks.

For Immediate Release:

Every year, the Adirondack Brewery holds multiple Oktoberfest celebrations in Lake George, one in the village and another at their restaurant at 33 Canada St. On top of celebrating the fall season and enjoying authentic German food, music, and beverages, these celebrations are also fundraisers for local nonprofit organizations chosen by the Adirondack Brewery team. This year, the brewery chose to raise funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks.

“We believe that we have an obligation to help the community that has supported us for 20 years,” says John Carr, founder/owner of the Adirondack Brewery. “Each year we have a meeting in which we choose a local nonprofit to raise funds for during our Oktoberfests, with the stipulation that the funds raised need to be kept in our local community and impact it directly. We were thrilled to work with Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks this year so that they can use the funds to build on their fantastic work of supporting children in our region.”

At the Adirondack Brewery Oktoberfest held on Saturday, October 19th, the brewery handed over a check for $17,144.80 to staff and board members of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks (bbbsadk.org). Through all of their Oktoberfests, the brewery has donated over $100,000 to local charities such as the Lion’s Club, Ben Osborne Foundation, and Caritas.

“Adirondack Pub Brewery has helped so many organizations over the years through this event and we were thrilled to have been chosen as the beneficiary this year,” said Bill Moon, Executive Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Southern Adirondacks. ‘We knew we would raise money for the kids, what we never imagined was that we would raise over $17,000 or how much fun our volunteers were going to have working with the Pub and their supporters!”

Volunteers from Big Brothers Big Sisters assisted in the serving of food, beverages, and other duties during the Lake George Village Oktoberfest which drew over 10,000 people to the village over Columbus Day Weekend. This helped stimulate not only the donation but also the local business community, with many hotels mentioning that they were at capacity. The Oktoberfest celebration the following weekend included over 20 breweries and wineries from across the state to come and support the event and drew over 1,000 patrons to the brewery.

“The Adirondack Brewery Oktoberfest is a great way to celebrate the magnificent fall we have in the Adirondacks and raise money for a great cause. It extends our offerings in the village and provides those in attendance with a variety of creative and traditional activities. It has become one of our top annual event,” Lake George Mayor Blais said.

The 2020 Lake George Village Oktoberfest will be held October 9 - 11, with the Adirondack Brewery Oktoberfest, held the following Saturday, October 17th.

Combined with their Hope Ale, which raised funds for breast cancer research, October is one of the busiest months for fundraising by any brewery in the region.
