Celebrating the Start of the North Creek Ski Bowl Project
Posted: 5/23/2024
The Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & CVB had the honor of attending a momentous event on Wednesday, May 15, marking the beginning of exciting new developments at the North Creek Ski Bowl at Gore Mountain. This ceremony coincided with the 90th anniversary of the first snow train arriving in North Creek, a historic milestone celebrated by officials from the Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) and the Town of Johnsburg.
A New Era for the North Creek Ski Bowl
The event highlighted the launch of several significant projects aimed at enhancing the North Creek Ski Bowl’s offerings and solidifying its status as a premier year-round destination. Key initiatives include:
- Hudson Chair Replacement: The installation of a new detachable high-speed quad chairlift, set to be operational for the 2024-25 ski season.
- New Year-Round Lodge: An 18,300-square-foot facility featuring a restaurant and two levels of patios with stunning slopeside views, expected to open in 2025.
- Summer Attraction: Details on this exciting new addition will be unveiled soon, further diversifying the recreational opportunities available at the Ski Bowl.
Expanding Year-Round Activities
The new lodge is designed to serve as a vibrant hub for a wide range of activities beyond alpine and Nordic skiing. Visitors can look forward to enjoying backcountry skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and mountain biking, making the North Creek Ski Bowl a destination for all seasons.
Honoring a Rich History
Established in 1934, the North Creek Ski Bowl is one of the first commercial ski areas in the United States and home to one of the earliest ski patrols. The ongoing redevelopment projects are set to honor this rich history while ensuring the Ski Bowl remains a full-service hub for outdoor enthusiasts year-round.
The Event
The ceremony took place outside the Joe Minder Lodge at the North Creek Ski Bowl, a fitting location given its significant upgrades and modernizations over the years. These enhancements have included new chairlifts, improved trails, upgraded snowmaking systems, and the development of a professional Nordic Center with certified racecourses.
Looking Ahead
With these ambitious projects underway, the North Creek Ski Bowl is poised to strengthen its appeal as a year-round destination. The Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & CVB is proud to support and participate in events that promote and celebrate our region’s growth and development.
