First Annual “Clean Up Lake George” Day Is September 17
LGA invites residents, businesses, and visitors to help get rid of trash that harms the Lake’s water quality and aquatic life
LAKE GEORGE — The Lake George Association (LGA), in partnership with the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, the Village of Lake George, and the Lake George Waterkeeper, will host the first annual “Clean Up Lake George” event on Sunday, September 17, 2023, in Lake George
Village.
Residents, businesses, and visitors are encouraged to participate in removing trash from the shoreline and in the water to protect water quality and aquatic plants and animals. The Warren County Sheriff’s Dive Team will lead the underwater clean-up efforts. Volunteers can choose to clean up along the Village shoreline or on their own properties.
“This idea for a clean-up day came from discussions within our Young Professionals group wanting to give back to Lake George,” said Danielle Brown, LGA Development Manager, who is organizing the event with Monika LaPlante, LGA Managing Program Director. “We are grateful to Mayor Perry, Sheriff LaFarr, our sponsors, and this amazing community for coming
together to help us keep the Lake we rely on for our economy clean and protected.”
Volunteers are asked to register online in advance at akegeorgeassociation.org/cleanuplakegeorge. An FAQ about the event is available on that web page as well. In-person registration on the day of the event, September 17, will also be available at the Village Pier in Shepard Park, starting at 8:30 a.m.
The event is free and open to all ages. Trash removal and safety supplies will be provided. "Clean Up Lake George” is sponsored in part by Waste Connections, which has donated all trash removal services for the event.
Lake George Beach Club is also a sponsor of the inaugural event, providing “Clean Up Lake George” T-shirts to the first 100 registered volunteers as well as a volunteer cookout immediately following the event. Those who cannot participate in the Village effort are encouraged to clean up on their
properties and around their docks and to share photos using #LGCleanUp on Instagram and
Facebook.
Corporate sponsorships are still available. Contact Danielle Brown at dbrown@lakegeorgeassociation.org for more information.
The Lake George Association is the preeminent Lake-protection organization, providing
