Great Beaches to Visit in the Lake George Region

Summer days in the Southern Adirondacks are made for beach time—and the Lake George region offers a wide range of scenic spots to swim, sunbathe, paddle, and play. From popular shores in Lake George Village to quiet gems tucked in small towns like Brant Lake, Warrensburg, and Lake Luzerne, there’s a beach for every kind of Adirondack adventure.

Here’s your guide to some of the best public beaches in the region:


Lake George Village & Surrounding Area

Million Dollar Beach
Beach Road, Lake George
Operated by NYS DEC, this is the largest and most well-known beach on Lake George. It features lifeguards, changing rooms, restrooms, a boat launch, and great mountain views. Parking is available for a fee.

Shepard Park Beach
Canada Street, Lake George
Located in the heart of the Village, this family-friendly beach offers a roped-off swim area, shaded grassy park, and free midweek summer concerts nearby at the amphitheater.

Usher Park Beach
Off Route 9L, Lake George
A quieter village beach tucked away from the bustle. Features a small beach, picnic tables, playground, and serene lake access—perfect for families or a laid-back afternoon.

Dog Beach
Between Million Dollar Beach and the Lake George Steamboat Company
This unofficial but popular spot is a favorite for locals and visitors with dogs. It’s one of the few places along the Lake George shoreline where dogs are welcome to swim. There are no lifeguards or restrooms, but it’s a great spot for pups to cool off on a hot summer day.


North of Lake George Village

Rogers Memorial Park Beach
Off of 9N, Bolton Landing
A scenic beach with amenities like tennis courts, kayak rentals, a pier, and easy access to local shops and restaurants.

Veterans Memorial Park Beach
Off of 9N, Bolton Landing
Just a few minutes from Rogers Park, this lesser-known beach has ample parking, picnic areas, and a more relaxed vibe.

Hague Town Beach Park
Route 9N, Hague
A picturesque northern Lake George beach with calm waters, picnic space, seasonal events, and a peaceful small-town setting.


Beyond the Lake George Shores

Brant Lake Beach
State Route 8, Brant Lake
Located at the town beach near Horicon’s community center, Brant Lake offers crystal-clear water, a quiet atmosphere, and beautiful mountain backdrops. Perfect for swimming, paddling, and unwinding in nature.

Morry Stein Beach Echo Lake
Beach Ave, Warrensburg
Just outside the center of town, Echo Lake Beach offers a quiet, family-friendly swimming area with lifeguards during the summer season. The beach includes a roped-off swim zone, picnic tables, a small playground, and shaded areas—perfect for a laid-back afternoon by the water.

Haviland’s Cove Beach
Bush Street, Glens Falls
Tucked along the banks of the Hudson River, Haviland’s Cove Beach is a popular local spot for swimming, picnicking, and relaxing close to downtown Glens Falls. The beach features a designated swim area with lifeguards in season, grassy areas for lounging, a playground, and shaded picnic tables.

Lake Luzerne Public Beach
Lake Avenue, Lake Luzerne
Located on the southern edge of the region, this quaint beach is great for families, with a shallow swim area, lifeguards, a playground, and nearby pavilion.

Loon Lake Public Beach
Route 8, Chestertown
A favorite among locals and visitors alike, this public beach offers soft sand, calm water, mountain views, and seasonal lifeguards. Great for families and paddling.

  • Most beaches are open seasonally (typically late June through Labor Day).

  • Check local websites or town offices for hours, lifeguard schedules, and possible fees.

  • Pack essentials like sunscreen, towels, and water.
