Honoring Excellence: Celebrating Jazz at the Lake and Dan Davies at the Annual Chamber Dinner
Posted: 11/18/2024
On Thursday, November 14, 2024, the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & CVB hosted its Annual Dinner at The Carriage House at Fort William Henry, celebrating two remarkable contributors to the Lake George region. The evening was a heartfelt recognition of those who have made outstanding contributions to the community, tourism, and cultural vitality of the area.
Spotlight on Tourism and Culture: The S.T.A.R Award
The S.T.A.R Award (Supporting Tourism Around the Region) was awarded to Jazz at the Lake, hosted by the Lake George Arts Project. For over 40 years, this free outdoor jazz festival has been a beloved cultural event, drawing thousands of visitors each September to Shepard Park. With world-class musicians performing against the backdrop of Lake George and the Adirondacks, Jazz at the Lake has become a cornerstone of the region’s arts and tourism scene.
The festival not only enhances the cultural life of residents but also drives economic activity, filling hotels, restaurants, and shops during the shoulder season. Its reputation as one of the Northeast’s premier jazz festivals highlights the power of community-focused events to attract visitors and showcase the natural beauty of Lake George.
Recognizing Local Leadership: The Sapphire Award
This year’s Sapphire Award was presented to Dan Davies, owner of Davies-Davies & Associates LLC. An eighth-generation resident of the Lake George region, Dan has not only achieved incredible professional success, with over $1 billion in personal real estate sales and his team surpassing $2.5 billion, but he has also given tirelessly to the community.
Dan is a longtime member of the North Queensbury Fire Company, where he has served in multiple leadership roles, and he contributes to regional safety as part of the Warren County Water Rescue Dive Team. His steadfast dedication to Lake George’s economic growth and civic vitality truly makes him a “gem” of the community.
A Night to Remember
The Annual Dinner served as a powerful reminder of the incredible people and organizations that make the Lake George region a special place to live, work, and visit. Both Jazz at the Lake and Dan Davies exemplify the values of leadership, collaboration, and commitment that drive the success of our community and its tourism economy.
