Lake George Winter Carnival Cancelled
Posted: 12/1/2020 - 3-Minute Read
The 2021 Lake George Winter Carnival has been cancelled.
This longtime event usually takes place every weekend in February.
Though it was a heart-wrenching decision, the organizers decided to cancel with everyone’s safety in mind.
The statewide public gathering limit remains at 50 people or less in New York, and there doesn’t seem to be any signs of that limit being lifted.

Though Lake George Winter Carnival won’t be happening in person, the Chamber is still going to celebrate this event with some digital content and a look back through the years.
If you have a Lake George Winter Carnival memory, including photos, video, or just a memory you want to share, please email LGRCC & CVB Marketing Director Amanda Metzger at amanda@lakegeorgechamber.com with the subject "Lake George Winter Carnival Memories" to be part of this fun series we will unveil in February.
The Lake George Winter Carnival will mark 60 years in 2022. The all-volunteer committee is continuing to look ahead and plan for that milestone.
Here is the official statement from Lake George Winter Carnival:
The Lake George Winter Carnival has been the engine that fuels the economy in the Lake George region for the past 59 years during every weekend in February.
The local businesses look forward for this winter tradition to help them with their businesses throughout the winter season. It is with saddened hearts that we make this decision. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused cancellations of major events this past summer in the Lake George area. The mandated guidelines of COVID-19 have caused this ongoing issue.
We have struggled with our decision of canceling the Lake George Winter Carnival for the 2021 season. Our concern is for our Winter Carnival volunteer members and visitors who attend this large event to be safe.
The Lake George Winter Carnival is officially canceling the 2021 Winter Carnival and moving forward and planning a great 2022 winter carnival which will be our 60th anniversary of the Lake George Winter Carnival.
We wish everyone to be safe and follow us on Lake George Winter Carnival Facebook for all updates on the oncoming 2022 season.
"Each year the Lake George Winter Carnival provides our region with a much-needed economic boost and provides a variety of events that lifts the spirit of thousands during our long winter. We know and respect the many volunteers and understand and appreciate their decision,” Village of Lake George Mayor Blais said.
See everyone during the four weekends in February 2022.
Sincerely,
Louis Tokos & Nancy Nichols
