Lake George Winter Carnival Every Weekend in February
Posted: 2/1/2022 - 3-Minute Read
The Lake George Winter Carnival is back in 2022! Come see the famed outhouse races the first weekend, weekly themed-cookoffs, Saturday fireworks, children’s activities, dog’s got talent shows, hot-chocolate station, sanctioned car, ATV, and motorcycle races on ice, and much more!
It was 1961 when a group of volunteers first planned a Lake George Winter Carnival. More than half a century later dedicated volunteers continue to make this event happen. The Winter Carnival provides a way for us to celebrate outdoor recreation in our corner of the Adirondacks with four activity-packed weekends, every Saturday and Sunday in February. Much of the fun is free. It’s perfect for families, couples, friends — everyone! There is no entry fee, but there are fees for specific activities.
Since there was no Lake George Winter Carnival in 2021 due to COVID-19, we’re celebrating the 60th anniversary of this long-standing winter event this year.
New Online Tickets for Cook-offs
Each weekend area restaurants participate in a cook-off, and you can be the judge for just $6 a ticket. The first weekend, restaurants will put their chili to the test. The second weekend, they’ll compete in the BBQ category. The third weekend is all about chowder. Then, the local restaurants will compete with their macaroni and cheese dishes!
New this year, the Lake George Winter Carnival is offering advance tickets that can be purchased online. In previous years, these popular cook-offs were first come, first served. With this new online ordering system, you can skip the line and get right into tasting and judging. Click here to purchase online.
Order Your Mug Online
Also new this year, you can reserve your collectible souvenir Lake George Winter Carnival mug and hot chocolate! These usually go pretty fast, so it’s a great idea to pre-purchase them online.
Dog Sled Rides are Back
This year dog sled rides will be available after a few years without this fun attraction. In addition, there are also horse-drawn carriage rides and pony rides every Saturday and Sunday. Helicopter rides are also available!
Please refer to the individual schedules to see all the fun happening during Lake George Winter Carnival Weekends.
Also, check out Winterfest and Ice Castles while you are here!
