NY American Gold Star Mothers 85th Convention to Return to Lake George
Posted: 4/6/2022 - 2-Minute-Read
LAKE GEORGE, NY — After more than 10 years, the Department of New York American Gold Star Mothers will return to Lake George, New York, for their 85th Annual Convention. The public is invited to attend the Convention’s opening ceremony planned for Friday, April 29, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Resort Lake George.
Since its inception in the 1920s, the Department of New York American Gold Star Mothers Convention has brought together mothers of children who were lost while serving on active duty in the United States military. Veterans and family members join the weekend events to share their stories and rally to support the veteran community.
“It is my hope to bring the treasured history of American Gold Star Mothers to the Lake George community, sharing not only our memorabilia and history from the 1920s, but also the peace and healing of Lake George. I hope to offer these families and friends a setting of comfort and camaraderie on their journey in a club no one wants to join. I think this is an opportunity to reflect not only on the cost of freedom, but to remember those who have fought and are still fighting every day,” said American Gold Star Mothers Department of New York President Cindy Roberts.
The hour-long opening ceremony will commence at 6 p.m at the Holiday Inn Resort Lake George, followed by live music from the Lake George Community Band, and light refreshments and cake. Historical photos and memorabilia will be showcased. This event is free and open to the public.
Anyone from the public who has questions may contact the Lake George Regional Convention & Visitors Bureau at LGRCVB@lakegeorgechamber.com.

About American Gold Star Mothers (AGSM):
The mission of AGSM is to take care of our fellow GS Mothers and Veterans while promoting the education and history of Gold Star Mothers. The mothers rally to support the Veteran Community throughout New York and the country. When someone signs up to defend our country, they are family. For this organization it continues throughout their service and beyond. Gold Star Mothers recognize the return home often carries many burdens. With respect these Moms offer compassion in many avenues to help our Veteran Community and families. Packing, mailing boxes, cards, blood drives, food and clothing distribution, as well as scholarships, are just a few examples of how we honor our children's memory.
