Quarantine Weekend Fun!
Posted: 4/23/2020
Going stir crazy spending your weekends in the house, trying to find activities to pass the time or cleaning surfaces you have cleaned multiple times already? Us too. Here are some simple activities to keep your social distancing weekend interesting.
Outdoor Fun
The weather is warming up and the sun is coming out. We know you want to go out and enjoy it, we do too. A good activity to get some peace and quiet is to find the perfect hike. Hiking is a good way to get fresh air and maintain yourself while avoiding crowds, to an extent.
If you have read our latest news blog, check it out here, you might have realized that some trails in our region have been closed to overcrowding, causing safety concerns. The entire Adirondack region is full of trails to be discovered. Even if you have to drive a bit out of your way, that just adds to the adventure. For updates on trail conditions and closures, check out LGLC’s website or DEC’s website.
If a trailhead is full of cars, consider finding another trail that is less crowded. Just make sure to use your best judgment and consider others when choosing a trail and the amount of hikers already on it. All Trails is a perfect website to find trails throughout the region, with all sorts of trail information and photographs. There is a chance there are trails you may not have known about. Take this chance to spread out and keep trails open by avoiding overcrowding them. If possible, try to stay as local as possible. Warren County offers an interactive online map to help you find outdoor recreation opportunities in your neighborhood.
Make sure to bring a mask with you as it is mandated in New York. And most importantly, stay safe!
Backyard Fun
There are plenty of backyard activities to get outside without leaving your home. Especially if you have little ones running around your home.
Not everyone has access to a projector, but if you do, grab your projector and a sheet and make your backyard your personal drive-in. This is perfect for kids or makes for a perfect date night. For anyone with kids, get out your tent, hammock or sleeping bags and have a camping night after your movie!

Homemade Masks
It is most likely that you are having trouble finding the proper PPE, or personal protective equipment, in most stores, to protect yourself when out in crowds. N95 respirators and surgical masks are hard to come by. If you are having trouble, click here to learn how to make your own mask, using a t-shirt or bandana, provided by the CDC.
