Krantz Cottage Celebrates Five Years of Healing and Hope in Lake George

For five years, the Ronald McDonald House Family Retreat at Krantz Cottage has provided families experiencing serious childhood illness with something deeply valuable: time to rest, reconnect and simply be together.

Since opening in the Village of Lake George in July 2021, the Family Retreat has welcomed nearly 200 family stays filled with healing, hope and meaningful memories away from hospitals and medical appointments.

About Krantz Cottage

Located within walking distance of Village attractions and minutes from the beach, Krantz Cottage is a year-round retreat with a private family apartment on each floor.

Guest families receive a five-day, four-night stay completely free of charge. A local staff member is available to provide assistance, allowing families to settle in and experience Lake George at their own pace—whether that means exploring the area, enjoying special outings or simply spending a quiet afternoon together.

The cottage was formerly the law office of the late Howard Krantz. Its transformation into a family retreat was made possible through the generosity and collaboration of the Krantz family, local leaders, businesses and community members throughout the Lake George region.

Five Years of Community Support

For families navigating a serious childhood illness, opportunities to take a break from hospital visits, appointments and daily responsibilities can be rare.

Over the past five years, Krantz Cottage has provided a welcoming setting for moments of peace, laughter and connection. Each stay gives families the freedom to focus on something simple but deeply important: being together.

Help Welcome More Families

Community support allows Ronald McDonald House Albany to provide every retreat stay at no cost to participating families.

In celebration of Krantz Cottage’s fifth anniversary, an anonymous donor will match gifts made in support of the Family Retreat through August 31, 2026, up to a total of $20,000. Donations will help ensure that more families can experience the comfort and respite Krantz Cottage provides.
