GLENS FALLS, NY — The Queensbury Hotel has announced the Grand Opening of their Adirondack Ballroom expansion and newly renovated event spaces.

The $3.8-million renovation features 4,000 square feet of additional event space, combined with the transformation of over 4,000 square feet of existing event space. The project included the expansion of the Adirondack Room, the renovation of the Warren Room and the addition of both an outdoor patio space and a brand-new banquet kitchen.

The Adirondack Ballroom was the biggest undertaking of the project. The 5,200 square foot event space can now accommodate 300-500 people, depending on the style event and setup needs. It also features sleek and modern airwalls that can be used to divide the space into three parts, allowing for smaller events and versatile break-out spaces.

“The Adirondack Ballroom addition not only continues our mission of returning our city’s Queen back to the top of our region’s hospitality offerings, but also gives us the ability to attract larger conferences, increase the size of social gatherings and continue to hold more and more community events,” said Tyler Herrick, General Manager of The Queensbury Hotel and President of Spruce Hospitality Group.

Established in 1926 and approaching a centennial celebration, The Queensbury Hotel is no stranger to renovations and restorations. Ed Moore purchased the historic hotel in March of 2016 and entrusted Spruce Hospitality Group to manage the property. Since then, the group has renovated the 123 guest rooms, restored the hotel lobby and front desk, remodeled the restaurants (Park 26 & Fenimore’s Pub) and updated all event spaces and public spaces throughout the property.

Phinney Design Group of Saratoga Springs, who has been involved in many of the property’s recent renovation projects, lead the re-design of the expansion project. They worked hand-in-hand with V&H Construction of Fort Edward to complete the 10-month project.

“Phinney Design Group was honored to provide Architectural and Interior Design services for the new Adirondack Ballroom project,” said Mike Phinney, Owner & Principal Architect of Phinney Design Group. “We were careful to modernize the historic hotel, while still honoring its past and marrying the old and the new. After 6 years of renovations, this project has been one of the largest pieces of a master plan that our design team and owners visualized with the goal of breathing new life into a historic gem.”

On Thursday, July 21st, The Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce and Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce sponsored a joint ribbon cutting ceremony that was followed by a reception hosted by The Queensbury in the new event space.

“We are thrilled with the investment that the Moore Family and Spruce Hospitality have made in The Queensbury Hotel. This additional conference space and event facility opens up Glens Falls and the region to a new level of potential clientele that have been waiting for such an opportunity to bring their business to the area,” said Gina Mintzer, Executive Director of the Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & CVB.

“Our sales team has already seen a demand for the larger space and has begun booking events through the end of the year and well into 2023 and beyond,” said Herrick. “Before the expansion, we were hosting 750 events a year, so we look forward to seeing that grow.  And with that growth, we’ll continue to play a role in the greater Downtown Glens Falls Revitalization.”

“Both our management and staff are excited to bring this beautiful addition of the Adirondack Ballroom to Glens Falls. We look forward to welcoming even more guests from near and far to experience the wonderful improvements that have been made to the hotel over the last 6 years. And we don’t plan to stop here,” said Ed Moore, owner of The Queensbury Hotel.

At the Grand Opening event, the hotel announced that the next phase of renovations will include an update of their main entrance in the rear parking lot. The facelift will include the re-surfacing of the portico, fresh paint, landscaping updates, and new lighting and signage to welcome guests. Updated amenities like automatic doors will also be added for convenience and ease of accessibility.  The design of the new entrance will complement the exterior of the Adirondack expansion to make for a grand welcome.

“This community has long been hardworking, generous, and enterprising. Both steeped in tradition but with an eye towards the ever-evolving future, the same can be said for The Q and it's nearly 100 years. A great joy for us is hearing people telling stories of when some of their most important moments occurred here. From holidays, first jobs and proms to weddings and celebrations of life,” said Zack Moore, managing partner of Spruce Hospitality. “It is our hope that these new event spaces and this next chapter will continue to serve our community well into the future, while still remaining linked to our proud past.”
