Since its establishment in 1988, Southern Adirondack Independent Living (SAIL) has been dedicated to fostering greater independence within our community. What began with a part-time executive director has now evolved into an organization that proudly serves seventeen counties across New York State.
SAIL provides a comprehensive range of free services, including:
-Health Insurance Enrollment Assistance: Our dedicated team specializes in guiding individuals through the enrollment process for insurance plans such as Medicare, Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and more.
-Medical Equipment: We offer a free medical equipment loan program that includes a wide range of durable medical equipment and assistive technology. This service currently has 4,500+ pieces of equipment out in the community.
-Transition & Waiver Programs: Our programs are specifically crafted to aid individuals in their transition back to and sustained living within the community, all while receiving community-based care.
-Advocacy: Our experienced advocacy teams provide valuable support with tasks like applications and resume building, ensuring that individuals receive the assistance they need to thrive.
Beyond our direct services, SAIL actively contributes to enhancing community accessibility. In a recent achievement, SAIL played a pivotal role in ensuring the Fort William Henry's Winter's Dreams attraction became more accessible for individuals with mobility needs—a testament to our commitment to inclusivity and community well-being.
