Warrensburgh Museum of Local History, 3754 Main St, Warrensburg, NY, USA

Fires have ravaged buildings large and small ever since man learned to stack logs or lay stones and bricks one on top of another. Community efforts to rescue occupants, human or animal, no doubt were the priority when little more than bucket brigades could be undertaken to save the building. That mutual cooperation became formalized and a volunteer force finally became a reality in Warrensburg in 1921. An exhibit of artifacts and photographs showing the nearly 100 year history of this all-volunteer company will be unveiled on Sunday, July 5. Refreshments, savory and sweet will be offered.
