Clara and the Land of Sweets - A Narrated Nutcracker Story at the Charles Wood Theater

The Nutcracker is one of the most popular ballets known around the world. Every holiday season the Nutcracker Ballet is performed on thousands of venues around the globe.

The story begins on Christmas eve and tells of a young girl Clara, godchild of the brilliant clockmaker Drosselmeyer whom gifts her a Nutcracker… Clara falls asleep with her precious Nutcracker and her magical journey begins. Clara’s journey begins with the snow kingdom and is then transported to the Land of Sweets, where they meet the Sugar Plum Fairy.

 

The Sugar Plum Fairy honors her new guest with a celebration of dances. Different nationalities are represented by the dances of the sweets. When the ballet was created, several foreign delicacies were very special and rare.

 

Performed by dancers from the New York Dance Project and featuring select local dancers from the Reality Competitive Dance Team.
