Qigong and Sound Journey Meditation
August 5th 1:00pm-3:30pm Cost of workshop is $40
Qigong is an ancient Chinese practice to cultivate our life force energy. It enhances longevity and health and activates our self-healing potential. The practice includes: stimulating acupressure points, slow intentional movement, breathwork and mindfulness. It clears energy stagnation and blockages, integrates and balances mind, body, spirit and emotions. It is based on the 5 elements of nature which relate to our physical organs, based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, as in acupuncture. We will focus on the Fire element for the summer season which relates to the Heart organ. Olympia will lead the participants through movements called flows: repetitive, slow, gentle movements that regulate, cultivate, refine and expand our life force energy.
The practice can be done sitting or standing by anyone of any age. No prior experience needed. The Qigong practice will be followed by a Sound Journey Meditation. This Sound Journey Meditation, is a full body relaxation and mindfulness experience where participants are guided into a state of calm while relaxing on mats or in comfortable chairs. Robin will use voice and a variety of sound instruments to create a therapeutic and calming atmosphere. Special emphasis will be placed on a journey into the Heart, to resonate with the Fire element/summer season. The soothing sounds of crystal and Tibetan bowls, drums, tuning forks, and chimes will create an immersive soundscape to allow participants to integrate the Qigong experience. Sound journey meditation is believed to promote improved sleep, focus and clarity, and reduce stress. The sound meditation practice will enhance the Qigong practice by allowing participants a restful time to integrate the Qi, life force energy, throughout the body and finish with a peaceful and mindful sense of wellbeing of mind, body and spirit.
Olympia has been practicing different forms of Qigong for over 15 years. She obtained her Associate Qigong Instructor Certificate within the YOQI (Yoga + Qigong) school of Qigong in March 2025 and has been teaching Qigong weekly since May 2025.
