Town of Essex Revolution Run - All proceeds to benefit High Peaks Hospice
Runners, walkers, and families are invited to mark the 250th anniversary of American independence with the inaugural Essex Revolution Run/Walk 250, a chip-timed 6.5-kilometer (4-mile) race through the farmland and historic roads of Essex-on-Lake Champlain on Saturday, July 4.
The event, formerly known as the Essex Firecracker Run and organized by Lake Champlain Yoga, Pilates & Wellness, begins at 8 a.m. at 2885 Essex Rd. and finishes in downtown Essex, steps from Lake Champlain, just as the town's Fourth of July parade gets underway.
The course starts on a hard-packed country dirt road, passes through open farmland within the Adirondack Park, and transitions to paved roads for a downhill finish into the village. Strollers and leashed pets are welcome. Age-division medals will be awarded. Participants registered by June 20th are guaranteed a commemorative t-shirt.
A free children's fun run for ages 12 and under is scheduled for 9:15 a.m., with registration in front of the Essex Ice Cream Café.
All proceeds benefit High Peaks Hospice, which provides end-of-life care for families throughout the region.
Registration is $40 through July 3; race-day registration, if spots remain, is $50. Online registration closes July 3 at 5 p.m. Participants may pick up T-shirts and other race items the evening before at Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness, 68:30 p.m. on July 3.
